There are multiple options to interconnect and meter solar electricity generated at a load site including: “net-metering”; “net-billing”; and “load displacement”. In some cases the approach is dictated by a customer’s demand profile and system siting considerations. In other cases the approach is dictated by the local policy and regulatory framework. Attend this Solar Canada 2019 breakout session presented by Fidel Reijerse, President, RESCO Energy Inc. to gain a greater understanding of the multiple options to interconnect and meter load-sited solar electricity generation and their impact on system design, component selection and economics. In addition, a case study of a portfolio of 5 rooftop solar facilities in 3 Canadian jurisdictions with a total installed capacity of 4 MW will be presented for a real world example of the opportunities and challenges for the on-site consumption of solar electricity in Canada today.
