Alberta established Community Generation legislation in November 2018. With this framework in place and regulations currently under development, many communities and eligible organizations are curious about the opportunities and challenges of developing a renewable generation project. This dynamic presentation and discussion will provide an overview of: 1) Small Scale Generation Regulation (Alberta Regulation 194/2018), 2) Integrated development model to break down a complex project into accessible increments, 3) Timelines and costs of moving a project from concept to completion, 4) Key steps to get a community development project started on the right foot; and 5) Overview of grid scale solar economics as market-driven green power.
Extensive question and answer opportunities with development professionals and community organizers, including Victor Beda, Senior Project Manager, Aura Power Renewables; Robert J. Henry, Senior Consultant, Peters Energy Solutions; Kristina Groves, Board Member, Alberta Solar Co-Op; and Seth Leon, Manager of Co-operative Services, Alberta Community and Co-operative Association, will ensure attendees leave with a clearer vision of this important segment of the Alberta renewable generation industry.
This session is expected to benefit the following audiences; condo boards, co-operative organizations, industry participants, irrigation districts, indigenous communities or organizations, Municipalities, Not-for-profit corporations, Post-secondary educational institutions, Registered charities, Rural utilities, and School boards
