Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO)
Elizabeth Moore was appointed Vice-President, Commercial, in November 2017. Ms. Moore is responsible for leading the AESO’s commercial portfolio including current and future rounds of the Renewable Electricity Program, future transmission competitions, Fort McMurray West transmission reinforcement contract management, ancillary services procurement and other contract management related functions. She will also be responsible for implementing Alberta’s future capacity market, beginning with the first capacity market procurement process in late 2019.
Ms. Moore joined the AESO in September 2010 as Director, Competitive Process. In this role, she led a team that developed a competitive process for bulk transmission projects in Alberta. This process was first applied to the Fort McMurray West 500 kV Transmission Project, which was successfully awarded in December 2014.
Before joining the AESO, Ms. Moore spent five years with TransAlta in increasingly senior roles, managing the strategic and commercial aspects of its national and international coal fleet. She also acquired experience in the energy industry working at NOVA Corporation, TransCanada Pipelines, Westcoast Energy, and Duke Energy.
Ms. Moore holds a Bachelor of Arts, Economics and a Masters of Economics, both from the University of Calgary.
